Smartlead REST API
Smartlead's REST API provides full programmatic access to campaigns, email accounts, leads, sequences, analytics, and webhooks. We use it inside Make.com's HTTP module for advanced operations — adding leads to specific campaigns via POST calls, retrieving campaign-level analytics filtered by date range and campaign ID, establishing webhook endpoints for real-time event notifications, and managing lead tags and statuses at scale. Python and JavaScript scripts are used for high-volume batch operations.
Zapier & n8n Integration

Google Sheets → NeverBounce Validation → Smartlead Campaign
When a prospect list is ready in Google Sheets, our Make.com scenario reads each email address, sends it to NeverBounce for email validation, and adds only the verified valid emails to the designated Smartlead campaign via the API. Invalid, disposable, and role-based email addresses are filtered out before they enter the campaign — protecting sender reputation and keeping Smartlead lists clean without anyone manually validating emails one by one.
Gmail Reply → ChatGPT Sentiment → Smartlead Follow-up
When a reply arrives from a cold email prospect — either in Gmail or detected via a Smartlead webhook — our Make.com scenario passes the reply content to ChatGPT for sentiment analysis. ChatGPT classifies the reply as positive interest, neutral, objection, unsubscribe request, or out-of-office. Based on the classification, the appropriate action is taken: a positive lead is tagged in Smartlead, an objection triggers a follow-up sequence, and an unsubscribe is processed automatically with the correct campaign tag applied.
Smartlead Campaign Analytics → Airtable
We build scheduled Make.com scenarios that call the Smartlead analytics API with specific campaign IDs and date ranges — retrieving top-level campaign performance data including emails sent, open rates, reply rates, bounce rates, and conversion metrics. This data is pushed into Airtable as structured records, giving agencies and their clients a live campaign performance database outside Smartlead — enabling custom reporting dashboards and cross-campaign analysis without manual Smartlead exports.
Smartlead Webhook → Campaign Category + Lead Creation
We build Make.com scenarios that use the Smartlead API to establish webhooks on specific campaigns, configure the campaign category structure, and create leads programmatically from external data sources. When the webhook fires on a campaign event — a reply received, a link clicked, or a lead status updated — the scenario processes the event data and executes the corresponding downstream actions in CRMs, email platforms, or notification tools automatically.
Monthly Campaign Data → Smartlead → External Reporting
We build monthly scheduled Make.com scenarios that pull all campaign and lead data from Smartlead for the prior month — retrieving detailed engagement records, lead status histories, sequence performance, and reply data. Lead Exist Check → Tag Creation → Lead Upsert
We build Make.com flows that check whether a lead already exists in a Smartlead campaign before adding them — preventing duplicate lead entries that distort campaign analytics. If the lead exists, their record is updated with new information or a new tag is applied. If they don't exist, a new lead is created with all relevant data and custom fields populated. This upsert pattern keeps Smartlead campaigns clean and ensures every lead's history is preserved correctly across multiple outreach cycles.
